Ten talented sprinters will line up for Saturday’s 2015 Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Ball Of Muscle ($4.20) has continued to receive great support in 2015 Concorde Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au and has cut into outright favouritism for success ahead of Shiraz ($4.40) and Craftiness ($4.60).
Will Ball Of Muscle justify favouritism and win the 2015 Concorde Stakes or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Ball Of Muscle ($4.20)
Yet to finish outside the first three through thriteen career starts, Ball Of Muscle is a proven performer amongst classy company, at black type level and still offers punters exceptional value for money to win the 2015 Concorde Stakes. Capping a strong summer campaign with success in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) on January 9th, the Dubawi gelding returned in winter for second in a Flemington minor over 1000m; progressing to a close second behind subsequent two-time Group 1 champion Srikandi in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 QTC Cup (1200m) most recently on May 30th.
Shiraz has arguably returned to racing in career-best form this time but will need some luck in running if to continue winning form through the Concorde Stakes after drawing the somewhat wide and awkward barrier 8. Having taken out each of the TAB.com.au BM95 (1100m) and Primo Smallgoods BM90 (1200m) upon resuming in July, the Zariz gelding produced an impressive late turn of foot to take out the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) last time out on August 8th. Sure to have taken benefit from a brief freshen-up, Shiraz has been confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman on Saturday.
Fell Swoop ($5.50)
Fell Swoop will also carry winning form into the 2015 Concorde Stakes but also faces a tough task in transit after being allocated the outside barrier. Undefeated through four minor sprints during a short preparation in January and February, the talented son of Not A Single Doubt clearly needed the run when fourth in the Bledisloe Cup Festival BM80 (1000m) first-up but has since easily won his last two starts.
