2010 Concorde Stakes – Final Field & Preview

August 25th, 2010

The action of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival will continue on Saturday, when the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse heats up with the prolific Golden Rose Day.

The $1 million Group One Golden Rose (1400m) may headline the proceedings, but the $125,000 Group Three Concorde Stakes (1100m) will certainly be a feature at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Nine horses all at least three-years-old have formed the final field for the 2010 Concorde Stakes, and it is scheduled to jump at 2.40pm as race four.

One runner sure to be a favourite come betting time at Ladbrokes.com.au is Montana Flyer. The Gai Waterhouse-trained five-year-old has drawn perfectly in barrier one, and will team up with champion jockey Tim Clark.

The Flying Spur mare has won two barrier trials at Randwick recently, and will use the 2010 Concorde Stakes as a first-up jump to the bigger spring features.

On her outside shoulder will be the in-form Winter King in barrier two. The locally-based gelding will certainly be a strong punt at Ladbrokes.com.au having defeated a strong field in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) lately.

The four-year-old has been racing particularly well, and is running in the 2010 Concorde Stakes as part of a path to the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) on September 24.

Champion trainer Peter Moody has Reward For Effort taking to the line up. The winner of the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) had a strong autumn carnival, and will be a strong punt at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Also taking place on Saturday at Rosehill will be the 2010 Golden Rose and six other races, so head to Ladbrokes.com.au to get in on the exciting action!
